Infrastructure and Business Growth in Baltimore
Wednesday, September 30th, 2009Infrastructure essentially refers to the physical and organizational structures that are required for a society to function appropriately. With the growth in population in Baltimore, there is need for improved infrastructure so as to meet the needs of the community. Infrastructure generally involves; transport infrastructure, health infrastructure, water infrastructure, communication infrastructure and technology infrastructure among others.
To begin with, Baltimore is a community with diverse business interests given its population of over two million people. For business owners to realize their business dreams, they rely heavily on the infrastructure in Baltimore. This is because; businesses anywhere around the world do not operate in isolation. As a matter of fact, the growth of businesses is supported by the infrastructure available.
A good example to illustrate the point above is the fact that manufacturers in Baltimore rely on the transport infrastructure to move their products from one point to another. If in this case the transport infrastructure is not up to standard, then it will no doubt impact on how fast these goods can get to the consumer. This shows just how much businesses rely on the infrastructure available to transact business.
On the other hand, business owners also rely on the communication infrastructure available to communicate with their clients. With good communication infrastructure, then the flow of information from one point to another is hastened and vice versa. If these business owners are therefore able to have timely communication with their clients, then their businesses are likely to grow as they will have a satisfied client base.
It is therefore clear that the growth of businesses in Baltimore as in many other places around the world generally depends to a large extent on the infrastructure available. Good infrastructure contributes to the growth of businesses in many ways as indicated. Indeed, the different types of infrastructure have different roles to play in as far as business growth is concerned.
