Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

We are hearing more and more about Searching Engine Optimization or SEO, but what exactly is it? Well simply stated it is the process of increasing the quality and quantity of traffic to a website. Now to break it down even further, it means to direct more eyeballs to see what it is that you have to offer the world ( or at least your local community.) So why is it that so few people know about it? Well its because the industry has kind of gotten a black eye, by of course unscrupulous companies or individuals that promised the moon, and didn’t even deliver a star. So should you ignore SEO for your business…NO! You just need to know what you can do yourself and where you need the help of a professional.

Do It Yourself

Here are the things you can do yourself. Research your keywords, using Googles free keyword tool. Find out what people are searching so you can incorporate these search terms into your site. Make sure your add these keywords to yout title and description of your site. And finally write the copy as if you were talking to two people, your future customer and Google. Both want fresh and original content, just make sure that your headings utilize your keywords and your copy follows suite.

Consider A Professional

If you want maximum results, consider at least talking with several SEO professionals. The good ones will offer a free consultation, and will give you a lot of information right off the bat. Just make sure to ask for references and have them show you some results online that they have achieved for other clients. For example a Business Coach or an Attorney could use SEO to help separate themselves from the pack.

In summary SEO is good, but only as good as the information you put into it. A successfully set up website that is optimized for prospects and search engines will enjoy something that their competitors may miss out on…New paying customers.
